News Flash: Distraction Burglary in Bingham 19th Jan
At around 12.00pm on Thursday 19th January 2017 there was a distraction burglary on Wychwood Road in Bingham.
A male attended the address stating he was from the council, he entered the address he distracted the occupant by asking for a glass of water and then took her hand bag and left the address.
The offender is described as a white male in his 20’s wearing a woollen hat, jeans and jacket with light blue pockets.
Police conducted an area search- a male was stopped searched and although not connected with this offence was wanted for another offence and was arrested.
Following this incident our local poice have advised the following crime prevention advice:
• Do not allow people into your address that you do not know- if they say they are from a company ASK FOR ID.
• Do not be afraid to take the ID off them, close the door and ring the company they say they are from.
• Do not leave valuables such as handbags, wallets and car keys in easy reach of your door way or near windows.
• Look through the window or ask ‘who is it?’ before answering
• If you don’t know them ask them to return when you have someone with you.
• REMEMBER – YOU ARE IN CONTROL- IF IN DOUBT KEEP THEM OUT!!
