Summer Fair Stall Success!
Our stall at the Bingham Summer Fair on Saturday 10 June 2017 reached a new high in raising the profile of Bingham Neighbourhood Watch. It was a huge success! After early morning cloud and the threat of rain, the weather behaved itself and the sun finally shone in endorsement of our efforts.
The stall displayed our banner; a wide range of security equipment; various safety/security leaflets; the ‘Find the Loot’ game; the ‘Name the Police Officer Bear’ game for children; two superb hamper prizes; a large map showing the streets in membership; a ‘Security Quiz’; and a ‘How Secure is Your Home?’ questionnaire. The money collected through the £1 entries to the games helped to defray some of the costs of promoting the stall.

And what a superb team we had to deliver all the fun and good practice! The magnetic double act of Amanda Howell and Hilary Tee from SURE24 engaged with adults and children to attract them to the stall to take part in the games and learn about security devices. Similarly, Judith Brown, Rushcliffe Community Safety Officer, demonstrated and gave out safety devices, and persuaded people to sign up to the Neighbourhood Alert system. These contributions were complemented by an enthusiastic and resourceful team of seventeen co-ordinators:

We’re also enormously grateful to The Co-op Bingham for donations of wine for the hampers, The Entertainer, Nottingham, for vouchers for the winners of the children’s game, and to Cheryl and Terry Sentance for the gift of small toys for the children.
We thank all the adults and children who visited the stall and helped to make it such a success. One key measure of success for the stall is the number of people who register interest in joining or learning more about Neighbourhood Watch. On this occasion, we signed up more names than ever before, with the prospect of several more streets coming on board.
Finally, special thanks go to our stall planning team led so ably by Sandra Beckett, with help from Bob Garland, Louise Hemmens and Joy Holbrook; they worked hard to make this happen.
